Kristin Abbott - Freelance Dancer

Kristin is a contemporary dance theatre choreographer and dance educator. She is founder and artistic director of Abbott Dance Theatre (ADT), which she set up in 2013. Since its inception, Kristin has successfully created dance theatre productions that have toured locally and nationally funded by Arts Council England, the Heritage Lottery Fund and other partners.

Kristin’s experience as a multi-disciplinary dance artist spans many areas of the dance industry including musical theatre (Jus’Like That, UK Tour, 2005/ Princess Cruises, 2004), contemporary dance (Lo-Guidice Dance 2013, Eliot Smith Company, 2012/Sakoba Dance Theatre 2006/2008), television and commercial dance (So You Think You Can Dance - Series 2, 2010, BBC/ Pot-noodle advert, 2009), corporate entertainment (Hilton Hotels, MIMA, Sage Gateshead, The Baltic, Laing Art Gallery), community dance (Leisureworks, Lamplight Arts Centre) and dance in education (Durham County Council, Newcastle City Council).

Most recently, Kristin has been movement director for CBBC, working on the television series – The Dumping Ground - and has choreographed the music video for SCHAK’s “Moving all Around’. She is currently a SCITT trainee teacher for Secondary Dance at NHSG and is excited to share her passion and knowledge of dance in this community dance class.
